Memur-Sen Confederation commemorates the fourth anniversary of the defeated coup attempt in Ankara

In keeping with precautionary measures against the pandemic, a rally marking the Day of Democracy and National Unity took place at the headquarters of the Memur-Sen confederation on July 15 in Ankara. Turkey commemorated the fourth anniversary of the defeated coup attempt, which left 251 martyrs and nearly 2,200 injured.
Memur-Sen confederation organized a large march for the fourth anniversary of the defeated coup attempt of July 15, 2016. The march which began at the headquarters of the Memur-Sen ended in front of the new Ankara Police Department, the old building had been badly damaged by the bombings of the coup plotters on the night of July 15.
During the night of July 15 to 16, 2016, soldiers had tried to take power in the country using fighter aircrafts, helicopters and tanks. Nearly 250 anti-coup military and civilian people were martyred.
President of the Memur-Sen confederation, Ali Yalçin, issued a press statement in front of the Ankara Police Department. "Our martyrs gave us a free future, an independent homeland that night. They pave the way for a more powerful, more free, and larger Turkey" said president.
