Memur-Sen held its 8th Turkey Gathering

"The 8th Turkey Gathering of Memur-Sen was held with great enthusiasm. Speaking at the event, President Yalçın said, 'We will continue to crown our struggle with new achievements”.
At the 8th Turkey Gathering of Memur-Sen, held in Ankara's Kızılcahamam, Memur-Sen President Ali Yalçın and the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Numan Kurtulmuş, along with board members of Memur-Sen and its affiliated unions, leaders of labor organizations affiliated with the International Labour Confederation, provincial representatives, branch presidents, and a large number of invited guests and organizational members were present.
Addressing the members of Memur-Sen, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Prof. Dr. Numan Kurtulmuş, wished the 8th Turkey Gathering of Memur-Sen to bring about blessings, and he congratulated Memur-Sen for organizing the 1st Ordinary General Assembly of the International Labour Confederation.
Yalçın stated, "We will crown our struggle with new achievements."
Yalçın stressed the importance of organized power, highlighting Memur-Sen's role in achieving over 1007 gains, including resolving issues like the 3600 Additional Indicator. He emphasized the organization's determination and credited its efforts in securing rights such as collective bargaining, transitioning contract workers to permanent positions. Yalçın expressed gratitude for Memur-Sen's continued impact and pledged to further enhance their achievements, address challenges, and meet expectations.
"We have fulfilled our social responsibility."
In his speech, Ali Yalçın also addressed the "Century's Disaster" that occurred on February 6, 2023, referring to the earthquake. He stated that earthquakes affect an area as large as an average European country, resulting in the loss of 59 thousand lives. He expressed condolences and prayed for strength for the survivors. Yalçın emphasized the unity and resilience of the nation in the face of such tragedies, highlighting Memur-Sen's social responsibility to the people. He mentioned the swift response of the organization, including deploying a 270-member youth search and rescue team to the affected area and organizing aid convoys. He noted the focus of the Women's Commission on addressing the specific needs of women affected by the disaster. Yalçın also mentioned that Memur-Sen provided 10 million TL in cash aid to the region. Furthermore, he highlighted efforts to address the issues of public officials in the earthquake-affected areas directly, presenting proposals for solutions and preparing reports on the region. Yalçın commended the sacrifices made by the members of Memur-Sen in these efforts.

Yalçın referred to the genocide perpetrated by Zionist Israel in Palestine as one of the most horrific crimes in human history, stating, “We are in a shameful period where the crime of genocide, one of the most atrocious crimes against humanity, is being committed.”
