Memur-sen produces a monthly study entitled: "Undernourishment and Poverty Levels in Turkey". According to this November 2021 report, the undernourishment threshold for a family of 4 is 3,107.3 TL (~230 usd), while the poverty level is 8,823.2 TL (~650 usd).

Foodstuffs

According to the study conducted by the Memur-Sen confederation for the month of November 2021, the average price of foodstuffs increased by +2.65% compared to the previous month.

Among the most striking increases in the month of October, we will note the price of eggplant: +21.71%, long peppers: +21.71%, tomatoes: +15.24%, dried apricots: +14.51% and vegetable oils: 13.27%. However, among the most significant declines note; the price of cauliflower:-38.75%, spinach: -21.42%, lettuce: -20.12% and lemons: -17.54% and leeks: -14.43%.

Transport

The study found an average increase of +2.88% in the price of transport. Among the most striking price increases compared to October 2021 were the price of Liquid Propane Gas (LPG): +19.55% and Diesel fuel: +10.13%. The study also noted an increase in prices charged by airlines: +9.95%.

Education / Culture / Press

The study found an average price increase of +2.57 in the category Education / Culture / Press. Among the most important increases, we note the average price of stationery: +17.77% and games and toys for children: +7.6%. The study also revealed a decrease in the average price of cultural items: -11.72%.

Cleaning and personal hygiene articles

An average increase of +2.79% was observed in the price of cleaning and personal hygiene items. Among the most striking increases compared to October 2021, we note that of shaving cream items, with an increase of +5.53%. However, a decrease of -2.32% was observed in the average price of dental care products.

Textile/ Clothing

The study reported an average price increase of +4.43% in the Textile/ Clothing category.

Among the most striking price increases were for cotton items: +14.49%, wool items: +12.91% and children's shoes: +9.95%.

Health

While an average increase in the price of health items of: +1.41% was observed compared to the previous month, the most striking changes were found in the prices of blood pressure measuring devices: +3.07% and optical frames: +2.33%.

Communication items

Average prices for communication items increased by 1.38% compared to the previous month. The survey revealed an increase in the price of telephone articles: +6.05%.

Environment/ housing/ building materials/ decoration

The study found an average increase of +9.67% in the price of heating materials and an increase in the price of rents: +1.52%.

Finally, the average price of building materials has also increased by: +2.55% compared to the previous month. Among the most important increases are the prices of windows (pvc): +11.38% and ceramic floor/wall tiles: +10.51%.
