Yalçın Viseted Trade Union in Malaysia and Indonesia
19.11.24, Tuesday
Ali Yalçın, President of Memur-Sen and the International Labour Confederation (ILC), conducted visits to labor organizations in Malaysia and Indonesia as part of international trade union activities.
Memur-Sen, which continues to expand its solidarity network with labor organizations in 127 countries across five continents, contributes to solving global labor issues through the ILC, a body it took the initiative to establish. The ILC aims to foster cooperation to address global crises and challenges.
In this context, President Yalçın met with Datuk Adnan Bin Mat, President of CUEPACS, and its board members, as well as Mohd Effendy Bin Abdul Ghani, President of MTUC, and its executive team in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia.
Following his engagements in Malaysia, Yalçın traveled to Jakarta, Indonesia, where he met with representatives from over ten confederations.
Yalçın held meetings with Irham Ali Saifuddin, President of KSARBUMUSI, and its board members; Soeharjono Kadeni Kartodinomo, ILC Board Member; Ahmad Mustaqim, President of KSPN, and its Vice President; Jumhur Hidayat, the newly joined ILC family member and President of KSPSI, along with its vice presidents; and Johannes Dartha Pakpahan, President of KSBSI, with its board members and union leaders.
In these discussions, Yalçın stated:
"The International Labour Confederation, which we established to develop human- and labor-centered solutions to global issues, is reaching more workers, touching more lives, and striving to be their voice through your invaluable contributions. We aim to lead an international trade union movement grounded in rights, equality, and justice, create a common platform where member organizations can share knowledge and experience, provide opportunities for collaboration and strengthening trade union capabilities, and advance member organizations’ effectiveness. We are already making considerable progress in these areas."
Following these meetings, Yalçın visited the FSPPG Federation, affiliated with KSARBUMUSI, which was recognized as an exemplary union by Indonesia’s Ministry of Labor. He was briefed on the federation’s activities and its training center.
A commemorative tree was planted in the FSPPG garden after the meetings.
Yalçın also visited Turkey’s Ambassador to Malaysia, Emir Salim Yüksel, and Turkey’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Talip Küçükcan, where he received updates on Turkey’s mission and activities in the region.
