09.06.19, Sunday
Memur-Sen delegation participated in the 4th Ordinary Congress of the Brazil's UGT on May 30 and 31, 2019. Prior to the holding of the 4th Ordinary Congress of Brazil’s UGT, the Memur-Sen delegation also took part in the work of the international conference on the theme of the Future of Work. A theme that the constituents of the ILO member states would discuss during the centennial initiative on the future of ILC work in Geneva.
The international conference focused on the evolving nature of production and employment, the growing impact of new technologies in an increasingly globalized global economy. During the conference, panellists emphasized the crucial importance of training. They also emphasized the role of trade unions in raising awareness and encouraging employers' organizations and governments to invest heavily in continuing training for workers.
In an uncertain future of work for more and more workers who do not have access to training, the role of unions is to promote future prospects for workers. In this sense, trade unions must concentrate their efforts in social dialogue mechanisms. The international conference was attended by more than twenty international delegations.
In the congress session, in line with the present moment, when there are profound changes in the world of work with the advent of industry 4.0, the reforms proposed by the current government deserved special attention from the General Union of Workers - UGT - on the 30th and May 31, 2019, of its 4th Ordinary National Congress, which had as its central theme the 4th Industrial Revolution, the Future of Labor and Trade Union Action. After speeches, on Friday, there was an Electoral Plenary Session, which re-elected Ricardo Patah President of the UGT.
