Memur-Sen Participates at the BRICS Trade Union Forum held in South Africa

Memur-Sen Delegation led by President Ali Yalçın and Vice-President Hacı Bayram Tonbul have attended the BRICS Trade Union Forum, held on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in South Africa.
From 27-28 July 2018, BRICS Trade Union Forum (BTUF) was held in South Africa this year, attended by trade union leaders of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. Memur-Sen has also participates at the BRICS Trade Union Forum, held on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Durban, South Africa. The delegation, led by President Ali Yalçın and Vice-President Hacı Bayram Tonbul came together with representatives of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
The Forum was jointly hosted by the Trade Union Movement of South Africa as represented through NEDLAC namely COSATU, FEDUSA and NACTU. Memur-Sen Confederation has specially invited to attend the BRICS Trade Union Forum as the representative of labour sector in Turkey.In the forum, Memur-Sen Delegation followed up the sessions discussed by the delegates. Outlines and priorities for the BRICS Trade Union Forum 2018, Trade Unions’ responses to the “Future of Work” and “Just Transition” implications for workers’ rights, jobs, skills and sustainable development and BRICS New Development Bank (NDB) were some major topics discussed by delegates.
Following the first day of forum, Memur-Sen Delegation attended the Turkey-South Africa Networking Dinner was held in Johannesburg with the participation of Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Here Yalçın talked to President Erdoğan about the agenda of the labour for a while.At the second day of forum, employment creation, skilling of workers, health, as indicators of investment in people, BRICS trade union forum action plan were discussed by the delegates. The forum later published its final declaration and Trade Union Movement of South Africa handed over the presidency to Brazil Trade Union Movement.Yalçın also held some bilateral meetings with representatives of labour movement of member countries and discussed some topics as cooperation and experiment share on the basis of trade unionism.
