Turkey EU JCC: "Historical Facts Cannot Be Changed According to Political Interests of Politicians"
The Turkey-EU Joint Consultation Committee, including the Memur-Sen Confederation, reacted to the so-called "genocide" statement in the message published by US President Joe Biden regarding the 1915 events.
In the written statement made by the delegation consisting of the workers, employers and public servants confederations, it was stated that the genocide statement by President of the USA is strictly rejected and condemned.
In the statement, it was emphasized that the statement in question was a result of populism and a necessity of domestic political interests.
The written statement made by the EU-JCC Delegation in Turkey is as follows:
"We are unions and professional organizations representing the workers, employers, public servants, tradesmen, industrialists and producers of Turkey.
We firmly reject and condemn the US President's statement on the so-called genocide made on April 24, 2021.
We consider this statement, which is not based on any scientific or legal basis, as a result of political populism.
We emphasize that the statements made by the President of the USA and those who took similar steps have no legal value, and that these people have no legal and scientific knowledge to judge on historical matters.
We want it to be seen that this statement, which distorts the historical facts, will do nothing but polarize the people and make peace and stability in the region difficult.
We remind that Turkey's proposal for the establishment of a Joint History Commission in 2005 was not accepted by the Armenian side.
Historical facts cannot be distorted or changed according to politicians' cyclical political goals or internal political interests.
Just as Turkey has never avoided confronting its history, it will not learn from anyone, including the United States.
This statement will never be accepted in the conscience of our nation, and it will create a deep and difficult wound in the alliance relationship between our countries.
The USA should correct this grave mistake, which does not serve any purpose other than satisfying the political circles, stop serving the agenda of these circles that try to create enmity from history, and support the efforts for the peaceful coexistence of different nations in the region.
On this occasion, we respectfully commemorate individuals of all nations and beliefs who lost their lives before and during the First World War.
We remind that we have not forgotten our 58 citizens, 31 of whom were diplomats and their family members, who were martyred in the vile attacks organized by Armenian terrorist organizations, and we remember them with mercy.
National Will Platform: History of the USA is the History of Genocide!
The National Will Platform, of which Memur-Sen is one of its stakeholders, published a statement and strongly condemned the USA, which accused our ancestors of genocide over the so-called 1915 events.
In the written statement, it was stated that the history of the USA was the history of genocide, "We condemn with hatred and violence that America, which has committed the most brutal genocides, the bloodiest invasions, the most brutal massacres in the history of the world, accused our ancestors of genocide over the so-called 1915 events."
In the statement, by reminding that the USA is a state established by subjecting the Indians living in that region to genocide, “The history of the United States, which owes its existence to violence, occupation, exploitation and massacres since its establishment, is due to the massacre of millions of people perpetrated in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria and many other regions, and it consists of cities that were plundered, destroyed and destroyed”.
