Memur-Sen Protests in 81 Provinces to Reject Insufficient Offer
22.08.25, Friday
The Memur-Sen organization mobilized across 81 provinces to protest the inadequate proposal presented by the Public Employer during the 8th Term Collective Bargaining process. Public employees gathered throughout Turkey, particularly in front of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security in Ankara, to voice their demands, chanting: “We want justice in income and balance in wages – no to the insufficient offer.”
In the 8th Term Collective Bargaining process, which affects millions of public employees and retirees, the Public Employer proposed a salary increase of 10% + 6% for 2026 and 4% + 4% for 2027. Memur-Sen expressed strong opposition to this offer and announced actions across all 81 provinces, reiterating calls for a fair proposal. The organization is demanding:
The granting of an additional pay grade for public employees
Acceptance of proposals that protect families
Provision of a 3600 additional indicator for first-degree positions
Rectification of financial and personal rights for academicians, branch managers, chiefs, and supervisors
Improvement of financial rights for engineers and technical personnel
Reclassification of the Auxiliary Services Class into the appropriate service class
Provision of holiday bonuses
Fulfillment of promised housing support
Fixing the income tax rate at 15%
Inclusion of uniform payments in pension calculations
Counting all sources of income towards pensionable earnings
Revision of Law No. 4688
Memur-Sen emphasizes that as Turkey grows, the purchasing power of public employees must also increase, ensuring that the welfare of civil servants rises alongside national income.
