Memur-Sen International May Day Congress
28.04.21, Wednesday
The May Day Labor Day, usually celebrated in a different city in Turkey, every year, will be celebrated from home for the second time in a row.
Our International Congress, entitled "The Need for a New Mindset in regard of the Legal Framework of Civil Servants' Trade Unionism", will be organized jointly with Hacı Bayram Veli University, will be held on May 1 on the occasion of Labor Day and Solidarity Day.
The opening ceremony of the congress will be held with the participation of the President of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mustafa Şentop.
The opening session of the program will be held on April 29 at Memur-Sen headquarters, the subsequent sessions scheduled on April 30 and May 1 will be held by visioconference.
The congress will be spread over 3 days and will include 40 chapters divided into 10 different sessions; Acquis on the trade unionism of civil servants, the management of public personnel, the law n° 4688, the barriers and prohibitions in the trade unionism of civil servants, the need to consider a renewal in the way of understanding the place of a trade unionism, capable of contributing to the sustainable improvement of working conditions.
The debates will also focus on the effects of the Pandemic, where the very notion of the workplace has disappeared, relocated to the home for the most part, without forgetting the health professionals who risk their lives on the front line to achieve their work.
Academics, researchers, trade unionists and experts from different countries will be gathered at this congress which, we have no doubt, will lead to relevant reflections on the place of trade unionism as a vector of social progress.
