4th international videoconference on the Coronavirus pandemic, its impact on workers and the role of unions

Ali Yalçin, president of the Memur-Sen Confederation, met with the trade union representatives of the 4th group of the international training on "trade unionism and social policy". The fourth phase of the videoconference entitled “The Coronavirus pandemic, its impact on workers and the role of unions” took place with the participation of young union representatives from 13 countries.
The meeting which started with the opening speech of the president of Memur-Sen, Mr. Ali Yalçin, continued with the participation of the young union representatives of the 4th group of the international training on “unionism and social policies” as well as the vice president Mr. Mehmet Emin Esen and the advisers in international relations department of the Memur-Sen Confederation.
Referring to the effects of the pandemic on working life, Yalçın said: “The current situation is very different. As NGOs, we must not allow any questioning of the acquired rights of workers. Efficient process management has been carried out in our country. A "short-term work allowance" insurance system has been put in place for institutions in need. In this process, civil society organizations have great responsibilities. We must never go back on acquired rights”.
The meeting which took place in a friendly atmosphere from beginning to end was very enriching in terms of experience sharing.
