Invited to Haber Global TV sets, Ali Yalçın, President of Memur-Sen, Yalçın said, "While waiting for a second offer of the government concerning salary raise, the Memur-Sen confederation is determined to hold a collective action, Thursday, August 19, in Ankara."
Ali Yalçın, President of Memur-Sen, was the guest of Haber GlobalTV to announce the upcoming collective action, this Thursday, August 19, in Ankara, to call on the government to fulfill its responsibilities towards public employees: "While branch collective negotiations continue, we are waiting for a second offer of salary increase," he said.
As the trade unions continue their preparations for the collective action to be held in Ankara next Thursday, Yalçın said, "On the same day that the counter-offer was announced by the government, in reaction to the offer that was deemed unacceptable, we had called for an enlarged Council to determine a priority roadmap that meets the needs of public employees," he said.
Adding that Memur-Sen will exercise its inalienable right to use its right to peaceful assembly, Yalçın said, "priority must be given to social dialogue, the negotiation must take into account the losses related to the reduction of the purchasing power of public officials, pasta has increased by 36%, fuel has increased by 100%, the dollar has increased by 46% and the euro increased by 56%, the purchasing power of public officials has shrunk to a trickle.
Stating that the collective bargaining period will end on August 31, as required by law, Yalçın said, "If we want to reach a consensual agreement, the government will have to submit a better offer by August 22. If so, the arbitration process will begin but the more unresolved issues there are around the table and the more important these issues will become," he concluded.
