09.08.21, Monday
Memur-Sen leaders consultative meetings dedicated to the collective bargaining process were held in Ankara, with the participation of President Ali Yalçın, Vice Presidents, Memur-Sen Committee Chairmen, members of the steering committees of the 11 affiliated unions, as well as union representatives from the provinces.
Stressing the need to improve the economic conditions of public sector workers, Ali Yalçin openly called on the Public Employers' Committee not to ignore the discontent of public employees.
Regarding the rights and interests of the public employees, noting that the consultations had produced fundamental negotiation points, Yalçin urged the Public Employers' Committee to show goodwill.
He said: "The work of the present collective bargaining will give rise to serious discussions, sometimes heated, but always marked by the will to make the ideals we share prevail. I would like to urge all delegations to show determination and a willingness to cooperate in order to reach concrete and realistic resolutions that will be part of a constructive dialogue," he said.
Adding that: "The exercise of collective bargaining, as the driving force behind the objectives of social dialogue, must offer the possibility of building a fairer and more equitable economic order," he concluded.
