Working visits of a Memur-Sen delegation to India, the Maldives and Sri Lanka.

A delegation from the Memur-Sen Confederation traveled to New Delhi, India, on 26, 27 and 28 September 2018, to take part in activities on youth and the achievement of social development goals, at the invitation of Sanjeeva Reddy, President of the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC). This trip to India comes within the framework of the bilateral cooperation agreement signed in Istanbul, previously in May.

Mr. Mehmet Emin Esen, Vice President of Memur-Sen, was invited to take the floor to advocate for better youth representation, noting that one of the major obstacles is the ability of the world economy to meet the expectations of decent employment, he added that the professional world was undergoing a major upheaval due to structural changes, the alteration of production and employment, technological advances, the effects of climate change and major social, political and demographic trends.

Recalling the demographic weight of young people in the world's population, half of whom are under the age of 18, Mr. Esen added that young people are not the leaders of tomorrow, the reality is that they are the leaders of today.

Reaffirming Memur-Sen's commitment to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, Esen emphasized: "Our world continues to face the challenges of the greatest humanitarian crisis since the Second World War. World ". Turkey is home to more than 4 million people who have fled the devastation of their country, a figure that includes 3.6 million Syrians, including more than one million school-aged children. He added that this unprecedented flow of migrants and refugees has a direct impact on Turkey's social development agenda. Mr. Esen emphasized that greater international cooperation is needed to assist people in need. "According to Mr. Esen, if the principle of sharing prosperity, through a fair and inclusive distribution of the benefits of economic growth, is supposed to have the maximum effect on poverty reduction, questions arise about the ability of the global economy to meet with each other's expectations.

In the context of these challenges, Memur-Sen intends to multiply partnerships to share expertise and experiences with a view to achieving the ambitions of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Indian stakeholders, in turn, spoke of the "great transformation" of the global economy and its implications for the nature, quantity and quality of jobs, urging governments to focus on protecting people, placing them in a development perspective, to create a universal and sustainable social protection system and to promote social inclusion and inclusive development.In particular, the speakers noted that young people were most often excluded from social systems and decision-making processes. It is therefore vital that the United Nations and the States take appropriate measures against them. But today, this population faces challenges such as oppression in some countries, poverty, hunger or lack of employment. Kanaka Rao. The parties reviewed the situation of the trade union movement in India and Turkey.In New Delhi, the Memur-Sen delegation also visited the headquarters of the Hind Mazdoor Sabha confederation (HMS) where it was received by its Secretary General, Mr. Harbhajan Singh.
