The KESK confederation rejects the invitation of Memur-Sen
15.06.21, Tuesday
The KESK confederation has refused to accept Memur-Sen's invitation to form a common trade union front in the forthcoming collective bargaining negotiations concerning the renewal of the collective agreements of state workers.
Memur-Sen, which is the representative union at the national level, had called for the formation of a common front in order to exert combined pressure in the upcoming negotiations with the government.
While the Kamu-Sen confederation, which is the second largest in terms of membership, was in favour of our call to form a common trade union front for the forthcoming collective bargaining negotiations, we were stunned by the KESK confederation's decision to proceed on its own.
Even though the KESK confederation had assured us of its intention to organize consultations with a view to examining our invitation to form a common front at its general assembly scheduled for 22-23/24-25 June, it published its response to our invitation on its Internet page on 11 June, without even bothering to inform us.
