Memur-Sen President Ali Yalçın held talks with Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova in Ankara Dmitry Croitor, Chairman of the National Confederation of Trade Unions of Moldova (CNSM) Igor Zubcu and its leaders by videoconference to discuss the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and the possibilities of providing humanitarian aid.
Speaking at the online meeting, Memur-Sen President Ali Yalçın said: “Due to the unrest that has been going on right next to us for more than 10 years in Syria, we are hosting more than 4 million of refugees. Therefore, Turkey empathizes with Moldova, which opens its arms for Ukrainian refugees. I congratulate all the people of Moldova and the CSNM for their efforts in this regard. »
Expressing satisfaction with the letter of support sent to Memur-Sen by the CNSM, which had previously requested support for the humanitarian aid campaign for Ukrainian refugees, Yalçın said: "As a trade union organization, we are extremely happy that humanitarian aid is channeled through a confederation. As Memur-Sen, we have taken a very serious initiative because of the humanitarian crisis in Syria. Together with our Mehmet Akif Inan Foundation, we are building a giant complex in Idlib. In this regard, I congratulate Mr. Igor. This type of cooperation is not outside the scope of trade unions; on the contrary, these are activities suited to their purposes of existence. Therefore, I commend the CNSM for taking on this responsibility", he said.
Moldovan Ambassador Dmitry Croitor expressed his appreciation for the support of Turkey's largest trade union organization to Moldova and drew attention to the importance of humanitarian diplomacy and solidarity in the face of global issues. Drawing attention to the importance of trade union solidarity in humanitarian aid, Croitor thanked Memur-Sen for its sensitivity.
The President of the National Confederation of Trade Unions of Moldova (CNSM), Mr. Igor Zubcu, meanwhile, said he was very satisfied with the development of bilateral relations with Memur-Sen and thanked Memur-Sen for its sensitivity in the assistance to Ukrainian refugees.
