March for the Freedom of Palestine in Şanlıurfa
08.01.24, Monday
Memur-Sen, and the leading NGOs of our country organized the second “Freedom March for Palestine” in Şanlıurfa under the umbrella of the Support Platform for Palestine.
In the face of the genocide carried out by the occupying Israeli forces in Gaza with the support of Western imperialists, including the United States, Germany, and the United Kingdom, the Support Platform for Palestine initiated the “Support Marches for Palestine” on December 1 in Sakarya. The second march of solidarity with Palestine was held in the city of prophets, Şanlıurfa, to raise voices against oppression and stand with the oppressed Palestinians.
Addressing the enthusiasts of Al-Aqsa in Rabia Square, Memur-Sen General President and Spokesperson for the Support Platform for Palestine, Ali Yalçın, emphasized that Gaza is a matter of dignity, stating, “The most horrendous genocide in history is taking place in Gaza. More than 17,000 of our brothers have been martyred. More than 7,000 of our children... our babies... 5,000 women... we have 46,000 injured, and they cannot be treated. Our hospitals, ambulances, schools, and mosques have been destroyed. They kill our babies in hospitals, our children playing on the streets.”
The fate of Gaza is the fate of Turkey
Stating that imperialists act within a horrific global plan and have formed a genocide alliance in Gaza, Yalçın said that “According to the divine promise, after Al-Quds, the first city to be taken is Urfa! They took Al-Quds, Urfa is their target. That’s why we say: The fate of Al-Quds is the fate of Istanbul. The fate of Gaza is the fate of Turkey”
Reminding the words of Sheikh Ahmed Yasin, an important leader of the Palestinian resistance, “They kill us whether we resist or not. We chose to resist”, Yalçın continued his speech as follows:
“We are in a great pain and sorrow. Yes, there is pain, there is sorrow, but there is also hope. There is a heroic resistance in Gaza that disrupts the games. There is courage, there is dignity, and there is honor in Gaza. There is no despair, there is resistance!”
Gaza is the dignity test of humanity; we must continue the boycotts.
Pointing out that they will continue to raise our voice against oppression from every province and square until Al-Quds is free, Yalçın “if we don’t buy, we won’t die, but if we buy, they will die,” emphasized that they will continue the boycott.
Addressing Islamic countries in his speech, Yalçın called them to cut the relation with Israel. “It is in your hands to stop the killing of our children. Know that no realpolitik, no national interest, is more valuable than the life of a child in Gaza!” he said.
