Yalçın's Intervention on CNN Türk: "Significant Wage increase has become inevitable"

Ali Yalçın, President of Memur-Sen, was a guest on CNN Türk and answered journalists' questions about the concerns of civil servants following the recent 40% devaluation of the national currency.
Yalçın said: "Following the economic fluctuations that led to a 40% devaluation of the national currency in the last 30 days, only three months after the signing of the biennial collective agreements (2022-2023) that will come into effect from next month 2022, Memur-Sen calls on officials to take urgent measures to rebalance the salaries of public employees who have been eroded very hardly"
Adding: "We have initiated discussions with the Ministry of Labor and Social Security to protect public officials, the work will focus on the cost of living that affects the price of food, rent, etc. ... Currently, private sector unions, employers' organizations and the government are in the midst of negotiations on the minimum wage, which will continue until the end of December. Once these private sector negotiations are completed, while ensuring the inclusion of retirees and civil service workers under contract, we will begin our negotiation," he said.
