Memur-Sen’s Vice-President Tonbul to attend CGT’s X. National Congress in Colombia

Memur-Sen delegation headed by Vice-President Hacı Bayram TONBUL participated in the X National Congress of the Colombia’s CGT (Confederacion General Del Trabajo) which took place in Bogota, Colombia on 11-14 September, 2018.
The X. National Congress convened by the Colombia’ CGT was held in the city of Bogota, Colombia, on 11 to 14 September, 2018 with the participation of 1,400 delegates from all over the country. To represent Turkey’s labour sector, Memur-Sen delegation headed by Vice-President Hacı Bayram TONBUL participated in the X National Congress of the Colombia’s CGT (Confederacion General Del Trabajo) .
The delegates are set to discuss decent work of Colombian workers and the plans to strengthen the sustainable development goals. In the congress, delegates also agreed upon “today’s world has been advancing so fast that even workers do not want to link in the traditional way. The important thing is that we agree on the fundamentals: how to protect workers; how to guarantee them the rights ".
Haci Bayram Tonbul also met with CGT President Julio Roberto Gomez and Vice-President Percy Oyola to exchange views on trade union works.
Later, the Memur-Sen delegation came together with the members of the Confederation of Workers of the Colombia Colombia (CTC) as well as its president Miguel Morantes and its board members, as part of the trade union contacts in Colombia. Here, bilateral relations and trade union cooperation and working areas and global trade union movements were discussed.
Lastly, Memur-Sen Delegation met with the president of The United Workers Confederation of Colombia (CUT), Fabio Arias and held consultations on the world of work. The delegation also was informed about CUT.
