MEMUR-SEN was founded exactly 26 years ago by Mehmet Akif İnan, on a solid foundation, with the aim of restoring meaning to trade union life, defending and fighting against injustice and inequality.
Memur-Sen, whose motto is "Work is above capital, not the other way around", claims to be an action trade union, whose human has always been at the heart of priorities, whose methods are fundamentally solution-oriented.
The purpose of Memur-Sen is to promote the values of respect for the individual, solidarity, collective action, social justice, equity and democracy. Memur-Sen has always fought to promote, defend and develop the professional, economic, social and moral interests of workers, regardless of ethnic origin, color, gender, religious beliefs or political opinion.
Memur-Sen's raison d'être is to promote the values of respect for the individual, solidarity, collective action, social justice, equity and democracy.
Memur-Sen, whose primary role has always been to carry out actions aimed at guaranteeing its members the conditions for a balanced, stable and sustainable economic development, has always made it a point of honour to support; popular sovereignty; individual freedoms; the fight against discrimination in all its forms, diversity in all its forms; freedom of thought and opinion; freedom of conscience and religion; the fair distribution of income; the means to make a decent living from one's work; the possibility of doing productive and adequately paid work; the establishment of preferential employment and affirmative action programs for women, young people and people with disabilities; the promotion of equal opportunities for men and women and better representation of women in decision-making bodies.
From local to universal, a noble struggle
The struggle that started in a small room in Ankara 26 years ago has become a universal struggle together with our partner trade unions in seven continents. Today, MEMUR-SEN has evolved into a humanitarian movement, based on compassion for the suffering of others, faithful to an ethic that has made it a pioneer in the respect and defense of human rights. Over the years, with persistence and continuity, MEMUR-SEN has earned a reputation for challenging all forms of supremacy, tyranny, exclusion and discrimination.
