Leaders do not take action until the masses mobilize
03.06.24, Monday
The Ankara Palestine Solidarity Platform (ANFİDAP), of which Memur-Sen is a component, protested the genocide committed by Zionist Israel in Gaza and the massacre at the Rafah tent city with a press statement in front of the US Embassy in Ankara.
The protest was attended by Memur-Sen President Ali Yalçın, representatives and volunteers from member NGOs of ANFİDAP, as well as many citizens.
Addressing the crowd gathered in front of the US Embassy, President Yalçın said, “I curse Israel, which turns every day into torture and every night into a nightmare in Palestine and Gaza I condemn the United States, which, by supporting Israel, finances and becomes an accomplice in this genocide, encouraging the murderers. Since October 7, humanity has been on alert everywhere in the world. Students are demonstrating at universities, academics are raising their voices. All over the world, including Western capitals and all provinces of Turkey, civil initiatives continue to do their part to uphold human dignity. States are sensitively bringing this to the agenda at the UN, trying to make decisions to stop the genocide, but the US, leading the gang of five, sabotages these processes and vetoes ceasefire proposals. Thus, it repeatedly confirms its primary responsibility for this genocide”
Yalçın: Children and women were burned alive in Rafah
Yalçın said, “All over the world, conscientious hearts are raising their voices. They are striving to uphold humanity without distinguishing between language, religion, nationality, or homeland. That's why people from different religions and perspectives around the world want this massacre to end. On May 24, the International Court of Justice made a decision, stating that operations targeting Rafah must stop immediately and a corridor must be opened for aid to civilians as soon as possible. Instead of opening a corridor, Israel turned the night into a nightmare for the innocents. They burned children, women, and the innocents alive in the tent city in Rafah. The screams of the children and women shook the heavens. Curse the murderers. As dignified people striving to uphold human dignity, we will continue to raise our voices.”
