International Labour Confederation Founded in İstanbul
The International Labour Confederation (ILC) was established with the participation of 30 confederations from 23 countries, with the call of Memur-Sen, who continues the struggle for labor and rights with the slogan "Noble struggle from local to universal". On the other hand, 43 confederations and 4 regional labor organizations from 33 countries attended the International Labour and Solidarity Congress held to declare the establishment.
Memur-Sen, which has grown its network of solidarity with labour organizations in 127 countries on 5 continents, held the International Labor Congress in Istanbul in order to increase cooperation against the global crises and problems the world is in. The International Labour Confederation, which includes 30 confederations from 23 countries, declared its establishment with the participation of member countries.
The International Labor Congress, where the confederation was established, which will represent more than 25 million workers in Europe and Asia, was attended by the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Mr. Vedat Bilgin, the President of Memur-Sen Ali Yalçın, and the representatives of the founding and observer confederations.
The statute of the organization, which will function based in İstanbul and open to the participation of countries' federations, confederations in order to work and function in the international arena, was accepted at the meeting held with the participation of member countries.
In the founding manifesto of the confederation, which is the equivalent of the philosophy of "The world is greater than five" in the labour world, 43 confederations from 33 countries and 4 regional organizations participated, 30 confederations from 23 countries signed the founding statute and the others were present as observers at the congress. Founded in Istanbul, ILC sets out to represent more than 25 million workers. As ILC, which we established to raise hope, we shout out our basic point of view from İstanbul to the whole world. Human and his/her sweat are holy… For human, there is only the response of his/her labour; no definition is sufficient for the human who keeps out labour… Life is labor; therefore, labor is not a cost, it is the subject of production… For a world where peace reigns, not war, an order in which underground and aboveground resources are not exploited and distributed fairly by those living in the lands where they are produced... For a fairer world; Long live human! Long live labour!
Labour organisations from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Indonesia, Iraq, Kuwait, Lithuania, Macedonia, Maldives, Pakistan, Philippines, Slovenia, Jordan, Yemen, Turkey, Thailand, Palestine, UAE, Sri Lanka, Romania, Portugal, Malaysia and Iran Labor organizations from Italy, Montenegro, Mongolia and Cambodia take part as observers in the confederation.
Within the framework of the principle of cooperation, the Confederation aims to wage a trade union struggle based on rights, equality and justice in the international arena, to prepare a common working ground where the member organizations share their knowledge, experienc, to provide union communication, power and cooperation, to increase the trade union competencies of the member organizations, to use these competencies in the service of humanity.
Mr. Mehmet Emin Esen, Vice President of Memur-Sen, was elected as the first General Secretary of the International Labour Confederation.
