President of Memur-Sen Ali Yalçın and Deputy President of Memur-Sen and President of Enerji Bir-Sen, Hacı Bayram Tonbul attended the General Assembly of the Organization of African Trade Unions Unity (OATUU) in Mali-Bamako. Ali Yalçın who gave a speech at the General Assembly, said "I am celebrating OATUU 11th Ordinary General Assembly, I wish nice years. I wholeheartedly congratulate all management. Our earth is being tested with wars, with sorrows, with blood and tears. Injustice is being institutionalized. Almost 1 billion of 7 billion people are hungry. 1 in 5 of the world's population is receiving less than $ 1 wage for a day. The wealth of 62 people equals the total income of 3.62 billion people. Terrorism is being used as a conventional weapon and global imperialism is trying to design and kneel countries through terror. We have both income distribution injustice and wars on our planet. The number of orphans in the world reached 400 million. We must raise our voice for this persecution, irregularity, injustice. This meeting of the Organization of African Trade Unions Unity has raised the existing hope. The topics which are brought to the agenda are very important. It is felicific to be with leaders who are aware of their global injustice. We must protect this association and increase its function."
We have to insist on establishing a Labour Organization under the OIC
Yalçın who mentioned the International Symposium on "Trade Unionism in the World of Islam" organized by Memur-Sen and SESRIC in Istanbul, said we organized "International Trade Unionism Symposium" in Istanbul. In our symposium 80 confederations from 58 countries participated. We published the Istanbul Declaration together. In the declarations we have published, we said that "there is ILO under the UN, there is a labour organization under the Arab Union, there is a labour committee, an economic council under the African Union, and a labour organization under the Organization of Islamic Cooperation should be established. Trade Unions and Confederations in 58 countries which are the members of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation should address their problems of the working life. Our recommendation was taken to the agenda. We're not done yet. We must achieve this together. This will also facilitate the work of the ILO, OATUU and ICATU. We must insist on this."
