At 2851 TL, the undernourishment threshold increased by +50 TL in the month of July 2021
Every month, the Memur-sen confederation produces a study entitled: "Undernourishment and Poverty Thresholds in Turkey". According to this study, the undernourishment threshold for a family of 4 people is estimated at 2,851 TL (325 usd), while the poverty threshold is calculated at 8135.9 TL (935 usd).
According to the study conducted by the Memur-Sen confederation for the month of July 2021, the average price of foodstuffs increased by +2.86%, compared to the month of June 2021.
Among the most striking increases in the month of July, we note the price of cucumbers: +19.63%, onions: +18.33%, apricots: +16.12%, lemons: +14.72%. On the other hand, among the most important decreases are: eggplant: -9.25%, cherries: -8.32%, zucchini: -7.5% and green beans: -7.25%.
Among the most significant price increases were that of liquid propane gas (LPG): +9.95% and car rental: +9.6%. However, a decrease was observed in the price of intercity buses, with a drop of - 1.25%.
While the average price of educational materials increased by 2.08%, among the most significant increases, we note that the prices of cultural trips/tourist tours of one week or more, increased by: +29.42%. Also, we observe an increase in the price of cinema tickets: +13.08%. However, the study found a decrease in the price of cultural tours organized in the weekend: - 0.5%.
Cleaning and personal hygiene articles
An average increase of +0.89% was observed in the prices of cleaning and personal hygiene items. Among the most striking price increases were personal care items: +4.14%, and toilet paper: +3.26%. Among the decreases, we note that of makeup products: - 2.7% and perfumery items: -1.83%.
The study reported an average decrease in the textile/clothing category: -0.04% compared to last month. Among the most striking price increases were fashion accessories: +3.51%, clothing alterations: +2.38% and socks: +2.06%. On the other hand, a decline was observed in the prices of women's suits: -5.22%, children's tracksuits: - 2.99% and clothing: -2.39%.
While an average price increase of +0.71% was observed for health items compared to last month, among the most striking price increases was that of surgical fees: +2,.1%. On the other hand, the average price of hospital beds fell by: -0.42%.
Compared to last month, the average price of communication items increased by: +0.91%. Compared to last month, the most striking changes in the prices of communication items were those of spare parts for telephones, with an increase of: +2.22%. On the other hand, the study found that the average price of telephone calls decreased: - 0.34%.
The study reports an average increase of +2.67% in the price of heating materials and an increase in the price of water: +2.6%.
